MapR Technologies and Syncsort partner

Integration delivers immediate value to comScore, Experian and others.

MapR Technologies, Inc. and Syncsort have announced a partnership enabling mission-critical data and processing to be offloaded from legacy systems into a secure, enterprise-ready Hadoop platform, driving savings without compromising reliability or functionality.

As part of this agreement, the high-performance, highly scalable and easy-to-use Hadoop extract/transform/load (ETL) software, Syncsort DMX-H, is now certified with the MapR Distribution for Apache Hadoop. Customers can cost-effectively optimize data warehouses and expensive legacy platforms by offloading heavy processing into a secure & reliable Hadoop environment. Data-driven organizations can also avoid the expertise gap in older systems by migrating to an increasingly popular, modern data architecture.

The partnership is already adding value for customers. Leading internet analytics company comScore is leveraging the MapR and Syncsort integration to offload critical data into production-proven Hadoop, to increase performance while lowering costs.

“With MapR, we get scale, performance, and significant cost savings, all while retaining the level of reliability that we had with our previous systems,” said Mike Brown, CTO, comScore. “The MapR and Syncsort integration lets us process our data even faster than before, and allows us to bring new applications to market rapidly.”
Experian, the global leader in information services, sees tremendous benefits from the MapR and Syncsort integration. “With the help of enterprise-grade Hadoop solutions from MapR and Syncsort, offloading data from mainframe and SAN systems has increased our performance at reduced costs,” says Tom Thomas, IT director, Experian. "The MapR Distribution is a proven platform with reliable features that enable us to maximize resources, support disaster recovery and high availability, and deliver data with fast performance."

According to Bryan Ashley, vice president of worldwide business development, Syncsort, “As more of our customers deploy Hadoop and look to bring critical data to this new computing paradigm, they require a unified platform with the same enterprise-grade capabilities and reliability available on their existing legacy systems. As proven with joint customers, our integration with MapR provides this level of stability and processing power.”

“We see many businesses that recognize the cost and capability advantages of shifting from legacy systems to modern architectures,” said Jon Posnik, vice president of business development, MapR Technologies. “Our partnership with Syncsort gives customers a complete solution for easily migrating their critical business data to the MapR Distribution for Hadoop.”
