The new backup feature enables long-term retention of data and applications at the target site in addition to continuous replication, simplifying data protection for the purposes of recovery, archiving and compliance in a single solution. Completely hypervisor-based, Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5 allows both cloud service providers (CSPs) and enterprises to satisfy all internal and external requirements for data protection.

“A comprehensive DR and backup solution is particularly valuable to companies who have long-term retention requirements because it eliminates the need to purchase a separate backup product,” said Gil Levonai, VP products and marketing at Zerto. “Furthermore, Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5 can be used with any cloud – private, public or hybrid – allowing organizations to choose the IT environment that best suits their needs and without disturbing existing production environments.”

Zerto Offsite Backup
Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5’s offsite backup is a new model of data protection built on hypervisor-based replication, combining replication, continuous data protection (CDP) and long-term retention at the target site. Unlike traditional backup products, with offsite backup from Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5, backups occur from replicas on the target site, so impact on production applications is greatly reduced. No additional backup agents or appliances are required in the production environment. For those enterprises looking to leverage the cloud, Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5 allows for simple DR to the cloud together with long term retention in the cloud.

Benefits of Zerto offsite backup include:
· Simplified data protection with disaster recovery and backup in one solution
· Streamlined management with configurable backups, including daily, weekly and monthly options
· Reduced impact on production applications with backup infrastructure at the target site
· Support for business requirements with the ability to recover in different locations
· Backup to local or remote storage and recover even from third-party infrastructures, including public clouds

“iland customers using disaster recovery solutions powered by Zerto Virtual Replication can easily replicate from a VMware vSphere environment to iland’s VMware vCloud infrastructure without making any changes to their environments,” said Justin Giardina, CTO of iland. “Executing customers’ backup operations at the replication site reduces the overhead on ESXi hosts and virtual machines and also allows for both replication and backup to our cloud, which brings additional cost savings to our customers.”

Additional features of Zerto Virtual Replication 3.5 include:
· Enhanced alert handling, including applicable problem and resolution information
· Simplified management activities, including hypervisor operations through Zerto Virtual Replication and clearer status and activity
· Richer set of APIs to automate management
