Silver Peak provides WAN Optimisation for Equinix Performance Hub

Silver Peak is partnering with Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq: EQIX), the global interconnection and data centre company, to optimise enterprise data-centre connectivity as part of the Equinix Performance Hub solution. The Performance Hub combines Silver Peak’s industry-leading WAN optimisation with other data centre, networking, and cloud computing elements to improve application performance and the quality of experience when extending the enterprise to a hybrid cloud environment.

The Performance Hub enables enterprises to securely and reliably connect to their choice of 975 networks and 450 cloud service providers located inside Equinix data centres. With the addition of Silver Peak WAN optimisation, enterprises can consolidate cloud connections at an Equinix Performance Hub to dramatically reduce response times for business-critical applications. This enables enterprises to benefit from more reliable, accelerated access to software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications like Office365, Salesforce.com and Google Docs. Global enterprises, such as Chevron, eBay, and Nvidia, have already elected to deploy Equinix Performance Hub architectures around the world.

“The more enterprises move to a hybrid cloud architecture, the more we hear about the strain on network performance and how to provide a consistent quality of experience to a distributed workforce,” said Ihab Tarazi, CTO of Equinix. “The Equinix Performance Hub combines Silver Peak WAN optimisation and the convenience of cloud access to bring users closer to business-critical data and cloud resources from anywhere in the world.”

“The wide area network is going through a major transformation as the boundaries of enterprise IT extend into the public cloud,” said David Hughes, CEO of Silver Peak. “Our competencies in software-defined WAN optimisation and virtualisation make Silver Peak the perfect solution for extending enterprise connectivity to the cloud. Equinix understands this, and we are excited to be collaborating with them on the Performance Hub to shrink the distance between enterprise users and the cloud.”

Silver Peak’s software-defined WAN optimisation allows enterprises to optimise the WAN for the hybrid cloud, connecting the smallest remote sites to the largest data centres with up to a gigabit-per-second (Gbps) of WAN throughput or more. Any type of application or traffic type benefits from Silver Peak’s industry-leading performance, including proprietary in-house applications, file sharing, and latency sensitive traffic. This combination of Silver Peak capabilities with the Equinix Performance Hub helps ensure maximum performance when migrating applications and data to the cloud.
