Co-located for the first time with the EMEA’s leading event for IT directors, Cloud Expo Europe, the combined conferences attracted over 10,000 visitors over the two days – giving Borri Ltd the perfect platform to showcase its most recent data centre projects to key decision makers and industry influencers.
True to form, Borri Ltd could be seen from all corners of the exhibition hall and its spectacular juice bar and array of hospitality attracted an enviable steady stream of visitors to the company’s stand.
This has resulted in some exciting project enquiries and a number of new business partnerships. Visitors to the stand were impressed with the superior Italian design of the entire selection of Borri UPS systems. The Italian manufacturer’s investment at component level ensures that users gain maximum power protection by operating in online double conversion mode but can also achieve high efficiency levels.
Borri UPS systems can operate at efficiencies of 95 percent at part load even when in full protection VFI mode, achieving impressive efficiency gains when the units are in redundancy mode and therefore deliver significant financial benefits.
Borri Ltd’s sales director, Mark Trolley, commented: “Throughout the event there was a lot of discussion about best in class technologies versus financial impact. Whilst data centre operators thrive on innovative new solutions, these seem to be struggling to break through the strong financial barriers from procurement departments.
“What appears to be lacking is the understanding of the longer term ROIs that new technologies present. It was interesting to see that there is still a tug of war between innovation and cost, which are often augmented by the unfair advantage that long established brands have over the market.
“This short-sightedness and clear mis-favouritism of big brand names is stifling advances of new technologies from some of the most forward thinking technological experts. The marketplace needs to become more open-minded and we are determined to make this happen.
“Our objective is to educate decision makers and demonstrate the very real monetary benefits that new technologies can deliver. Whilst doing this we also want to help users understand the technologies that are available and identify which of these are appropriate for specific operating environments.
“It is vitally important that a UPS is purchased based on ‘total cost of ownership’ proposition, where cheap isn’t always cheaper in the long run and we hope that over the coming months we can reinforce this message with all end users.”
Supporting the Borri range of UPS systems, the company also has its own in-house engineers trained across all Borri technology as well as other leading manufacturer brands.
Representatives from both Borri Ltd’s data centre division and engineering team were on hand throughout the two day exhibition discussing latest emergency power technologies and the company’s most recent projects. These included a 6.2MVA solution in a co-located data centre in Reading and a 1.2MVA installation in Chiswick.
