WASP supplies polishing systems to Polish Data Centre

In acknowledgment of the latest trends, escalated by the increased risk of power failures, a Data Centre in Poland has installed four WASP fuel polishing systems to limit their business continuity exposure.

Rumours of the national grid possessing only 2% energy margin by 2015/16 is a troubling thought for many businesses. Likewise the recent reports of increased blackouts this winter is equally worrying, and it is especially nerve-racking for those who rely on 100% uptime to run their business. However, there is a solution and one Data Centre located in the city of Warsawa has prepared their back-up generators for any future power crisis; by installing 4 fuel polishing systems on their storage tanks.

A major factor for this Data Centre was to avoid losing power; however the hygroscopic nature of the biodiesel content in the EN590 fuel causes contamination, bacterial infections and water to develop in the fuel. This creates the knock on effects of increased acidity levels and accelerates the degradation processes, increasing the risk of back-up generator failure.

To avoid damage to their expensive power generation equipment, breakdowns during emergencies and costs in the future, the Data Centre contacted WASP PFS Ltd in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. WASP designed and manufactured a fuel polishing system to periodically clean their fuel and prevent the build up of contaminations, ensuring their fuel is in optimum condition. Furthermore, the system consisted of a magnetic fuel conditioner and full BMS system, allowing the customer ease of operation as well as complete peace of mind.
