As customers seek ways to achieve cloud economics and scale for their on-premise storage applications, the Zadara elastic NetApp Private Storage for AWS represents another significant milestone for liberating mission-critical applications to gain all the benefits of a cloud deployment –with the additional benefits of enterprise storage. Zadara will showcase the new Zadara elastic NetApp Private Storage for AWS product along with its VPSA solutions at AWS re:Invent, November 12-15 in Las Vegas, in its booth #711 and in NetApp’s booth #301.

With the Zadara elastic NetApp Private Storage for AWS, customers can easily provision their AWS EC2 instances with elastic NetApp Private Storage volumes, and be billed by the hour for the storage they use, without upfront costs or minimum commitments. Zadara’s technology works by providing IT managers a complete, turnkey storage service in which they provision the exact capacity and performance they need – assembling their storage online with a few clicks, and managing them with their own dedicated admin console. In cooperation with AWS and others, Zadara places dedicated, flexibly deployed hardware at AWS Direct Connect Facilities with private, high-speed network connections into AWS data centres, so cloud-delivered performance remains exceptional even for massive data volumes.

A self-service management portal unique to each customer makes it easy to provision and reconfigure storage like building blocks, on the fly, scaling up disk drives or vServers as demand grows, and managing their NetApp virtual storage machines from their EC2 instances. Customers can mount their elastic NetApp Private Storage into the EC2 machines using iSCSI, NFS or CIFS protocols. Customers can replicate back and forth from on-premise NetApp resources to the cloud in AWS using NetApp tools such as SnapMirror™ and SnapVault– making it easy to replicate data between the on-premise environments and NetApp Private Storage for AWS.

Priced starting at $0.30 per GB per month, the Zadara elastic NetApp Private Storage for AWS provides a way to achieve the high NAS and SAN Quality of Service (QoS) demanded by databases, CRM and financial applications, with the flexibility and affordability of the cloud.

“Enterprise IT managers require performance, reliability, and security in their data management solutions while seeking new flexibility and cost savings. Zadara’s solution extends NetApp’s flagship operating system and data management solution to AWS customers,” Lee Gates, director Cloud Solutions at NetApp. “Zadara’s solution provides our user community with a highly innovative approach with elastic, by-the hour enterprise storage solution.”

Zadara elastic NetApp Private Storage for AWS is available at AWS US East and will be deployed soon at AWS US West, AWS Japan and AWS Europe data centres.

“We’re proud to offer the world’s first and only instantly deployed, customized private NetApp storage coupled with AWS said Nelson Nahum, CEO of Zadara Storage. “Combining NetApp FAS and Zadara’s software allows us to offer a purpose-built solution for enterprises who want to use AWS. With Zadara and NetApp, organizations can move to the cloud with confidence using elastic, dynamic, multi-tenant FAS by the hour in conjunction with Amazon EC2.”
