Power for the police

Powertecnique has secured a contract with Shepherd Engineering Services (SES) to supply generators to the Avon and Somerset Police Accommodation PFI project, to the value of over £500,000.

Avon and Somerset Police are developing four new sites as part of its ‘Building for the Future’ campaign which will help process offenders more efficiently and will integrate the custody and investigative functions of the force, to improve response times for specialist teams. The Black Rock Quarry site is one of the four buildings which form the project, designed to provide a state-of-the-art firearms training hub, while respecting the current environmental conditions of the site.

Working collaboratively with mechanical and electrical design building services company contractors Shepherd Engineering Services who have designed the secondary/emergency energy solution for this project, Powertecnique has secured the supply of four generators with sizes varying between 1250kVA and 715kVA standby power ratings, a 48-hour external fuel tank, fire suppression, a 60dba exhaust system, synchronising panel and G59 protection equipment for each site.

Darren Pearce, Managing Director at Powertecnique explains, “We will supply fuel pipework including trace heating and fuel tank heaters to each of the sites, and supply and install signal cable between each generator and the switchboard. We always proactively recommend solutions and guarantee accuracy and honesty from our initial design.”

Powertecnique has a strong track record in supplying police forces with UPS & generator products, solution design, maintenance and service. It is known for its fast response, has a first rate level of service on both generators and UPS systems and can be on site for emergency call out within four hours.
