Venus Business Communications chooses Volta

Establishing POP and offering access to Amazon Web Services at Volta Data Centre.

Volta Data Centres says that Venus, London’s leading fibre network provider for the media and business community, has extended its dark fibre ring to Volta’s Great Sutton Street facility which will specifically address the needs of customers in three key areas: Shoreditch and Silicon Roundabout; Soho and the West End; the City and in particular for those in the latency sensitive financial services community.

By establishing a Point of Presence (POP) at Volta’s Data Centre, Venus will be the first carrier to offer access to Amazon Web Services' (AWS) Direct Connect. This will allow customers to establish a direct connection between the Great Sutton Street Data Centre and an AWS Direct Connect location.
Volta’s Great Sutton Street Data Centre is one of central London’s most connected facilities, ideally located in close proximity to City-based trading firms, ‘Silicon Roundabout’ and the West-End’s media community. The combination of Volta’s diverse 33kV power supply and range of carriers with their own fibre connectivity makes the Great Sutton Street data centre one of the most resilient and connected in central London.

By choosing Volta, Venus is able to match their almost unlimited network capacity with Volta’s unrivalled resilience in the heart of London. Venus will deliver internet access to customer racks primarily through Ethernet, at connectivity speeds between 1Gbit/Sec to 10Gbit/Sec.

Julian King, Commercial Director at Volta, said: “We are delighted that Venus has chosen to POP our Great Sutton Street facility and enable Volta’s customers to access the Amazon cloud services via AWS Direct Connect. Jointly, we are able to offer London based media, business and financial services communities almost unlimited network capacity, low latency connectivity in a highly resilient facility, benefitting from a diverse 33kV power supply and state of the art in-rack cooling system.”

Justin Keery, CEO at Venus, said: “The combination of Volta’s resilient power supply and advanced cooling system, together with its central London location make it by far the best choice for Venus. We anticipate strong demand from both the media and financial sectors for our services at Volta’s newest Data Centre which offers a resilient, scalable and efficient approach.”
