Q Biggest influence?

A The times I spent in the cadets, territorial army and officer trainer corp have had the biggest influence on me. This is because these experiences taught me a lot about the importance of getting out of bed on time and being well presented as well as understanding that you need a great team to achieve great results!
Q Most valuable lesson learnt?
A Why put off until tomorrow what you can achieve today!
Q One company to watch (other than your
own)?
A Boundary, Gary and his team did a great job at Nimsoft and I’m sure Boundary will be one to watch over the next few years.
Q Staycation or exotic location?
A I’d choose an exotic location, for the same reason given for question four!
Q A book, a movie or the TV?
A I’m a big fan of movies, anything from actions films to romcoms (for the same reason given for questions four and five).
Q If you weren’t an IT exec, what would
you like to be?
A I’m wondering if the good experience I’ve gained from travelling around the world combined with the fact that I like hitting targets, means a job as an international hit-man would be a natural career move?
Q In charge for the day, what world
problem would you address?
A The problem I’d address would be overcrowding on the tube. If I was a sheep EU law wouldn’t permit me to be transported in this way!
Q Sport - spectator or participator?
A I am a participator and I like doing triathlons when I have the time.
Q Your three desert island music choices?
A Oasis, Bastille and REM.
Q Guess who’s coming to dinner – your
five guests, (real or fictional characters)?
A Jeremy Clarkson
Boris Johnson
Martin Johnson
Alex Ferguson
My Dad.
Q Your hero or heroine from history?
A Field Marshal Montgomery – the Spartan General!
Q You’re hero or heroine alive and well?
A Boris Johnson because I think that his speech to the British athletes after the 2012 London Olympics was one of the best speeches ever delivered by a politician.
Q What’s the point of IT?
A To improve the efficiency of communication, be that human to human or from my fridge to the supermarket. In theory the increase efficiency of sharing data should save everyone time and energy, I’m not sure we’re succeeding yet.
Q When it comes to energy resources (for
data centres/IT) is the glass half-empty
or half-full?
A Half-full, there is a lot more to be done to improve the efficiency of IT and reduce the footprint on the environment.
Q Pet hates?
A People reclining their seats on a flight like they want to sleep but then watching TV or playing their iPod etc.
Q Where does the time machine take you
and why?
A Football World Cup 1966, I fear England may never win again in my lifetime.
Q Bring Your Own Device or Bring Your
Own Disaster (waiting to happen at
some point in the future)?
A Bring your own device, empower the people!
