ICS Cool Energy supplied three of its 606kW Magnus chillers with Turbocor compressor technology which operate without oil, using magnetic levitation to support internal close control cooling units for server hosting and file storage, and an energy efficient free cooler to support the research and development emulator in which parts for technological applications are developed.
The Turbocor compressors allow high partial load efficiencies to be achieved, dramatically saving on running costs for annual operation. The combination of magnetic levitation and the EC fans mean the units offer significantly reduced noise emissions and compared to standard scroll and screw compressors, the Turbocor can reduce sound emissions by up to 8dB (A). The Magnus chillers were fitted with inverter pumps and a variable primary flow system to increase efficiency by reducing pump motor input power when there is less of a cooling requirement.

Derry was taken to the manufacturing plant by ICS Cool Energy to view a witness test in order to prove the units performed as ICS had stated in their technical data; by meeting part load efficiencies and acoustic levels.
