The company had a standby emergency power requirement of 3.8MVA in the event of a utility outage. In order to maintain its commitment of offering a quality service the company was keen to identify the best solution to providing reliable standby power. SIBS chose Cummins’ Portuguese distributor, Electro Central Vulcanizadora (ECV) to supply the system at its data centre located in a 4,000 square meter premises at Alfragide, Lisbon, Portugal.
One of the overriding factors in choosing ECV, for this turnkey project was based on the company’s previous relationship with the customer and its proven capability to provide a reliable and efficient solution and after-sales service.

Cummins Power Generation products beat competition from CAT, Perkins, FG Wilson and SDMO to secure the contract. One of the overriding factors in choosing ECV, for this turnkey project was based on the company’s previous relationship with the customer and its proven capability to provide a reliable and efficient solution and after-sales service. LMSA was project consultant, and ECV and Iberinstal carried out the electrical installation, which included positioning one of the generator sets, a C2250 D5, in a 40-foot noise-attenuated container. The C825 D5A sets were installed with a remote cooling system. A parallel switchboard PCC 3100P and remote monitor panel were installed to manage operation. The power system is capable of operating 24/7 and 365 days of the year.
