Monaco Telecom launches Cloud Platform agreement

Monaco Telecom, Cable & Wireless Communications’ Monaco business, has been chosen to securely host a cloud-based platform which will deliver services to non-competing telecom operators across Europe.

The CAFÉ Cloud solution is provided by Movius Interactive Corporation, a global provider of applications for telecom service providers. Movius already operates the CAFÉ Cloud platform in the United States. Monaco Telecom’s secure data centre facilities will host services for the product’s expanding European client base.

CAFÉ Cloud is expected to appeal to Europe’s smaller fixed line and mobile operators who want to reduce fixed IT costs and management complexity by implementing new applications for their customers through the internet (‘the cloud’). Software delivered via the cloud (known as ‘software as a service’) is rented as a managed service which can help customers to reduce the cost of licences and IT support staff.

Services offered to CAFÉ Cloud customers will include Visual Voicemail - which delivers messages from a customer’s fixed and mobile accounts to their smartphone - and myIdentities - which allows users to host their personal and business accounts on a single smartphone.

Martin Péronnet, CEO of Monaco Telecom, said: “For all operators it is integral to supply a constant stream of new and innovative applications. Providing these services via the cloud is the perfect solution to ensure agility, cost efficiency and maximum potential and we are pleased to be at the core of this transition in Europe."

Dominic Gomez, CEO of Movius, added:  “Monaco Telecom is at the cusp of business model innovation by providing a hosted Value Added Services platform to non-competing operators. Now operational, other operators can benefit from economies of scale, Monaco’s market knowledge and experience as well as CAFÉ’s application enablement features.”
