"Enterprise adoption of SSD technology is increasing rapidly as organizations seek ways to improve data center and cloud application performance that allow them to service exponential storage growth with ever faster time-to-data requirements. This is driving the need for greater innovation of both hardware and software technologies to overcome IT challenges," said John Scaramuzzo, president of SMART Storage Systems. "Our new facility not only allows us to leverage the vast knowledgebase held in Singapore to spur innovation and usher in a new era of flash storage, but also enables us to better identify and meet the needs of organizations throughout Asia."
The new Singapore R&D office allows SMART Storage Systems to have a more broad reach to top enterprise storage talent throughout Asia, enabling it to drive innovation by combing approaches currently being worked on globally. The new Singapore office is SMART Storage Systems' sixth dedicated facility, joining the company's corporate headquarters in Newark, Calif.; a high-volume manufacturing facility in Penang, Malaysia; and R&D facilities in Chandler, Ariz., Westford, Mass. and Longmont, Colo. The company also has sales and channel support operations throughout North America, Asia and Europe.
