SNIA Europe announces 2012 Volunteer Recognition Award Recipients

SNIA Europe could not do its work without the passion and dedication of its numerous volunteer members. Each year, the SNIA organisation and storage networking professionals throughout Europe benefit from the educational programs and standards development work of these individuals, who commit their time, knowledge and expertise to the mission of SNIA Europe.

It is with great pleasure that we announce the recipients of SNIA Europe's 2012 Volunteer Recognition Awards - honouring individuals who have gone above and beyond, consistently and over the long-term, in order to deliver quality education on behalf of SNIA Europe.


INDUSTRY IMPACT AWARD
The Industry Impact award honours a SNIA Europe volunteer whose work on behalf of the association has had a significant beneficial impact on the storage networking industry.
Honouree: Roberto Salucci (Hitachi Data Systems)
Through the application of his time, knowledge and effort, Roberto enables SNIA Europe to thrive and succeed through multiple activities, including the creation and presentation of the disaster recovery presentation at the “Powering the Cloud” event. He also represents SNIA at several industry events, encouraging the adoption of SNIA standards. Roberto contributed in influencing the local cloud guide lines within the Italian Industry.
Roberto has been awarded the 2012 Industry Impact Award for his successful effort in securing the endorsement of the SNIA CDMI standard in the digital procurement guidelines of the Italian Government.

RED GLOVES AWARD
The Red Gloves are awarded to an individual who has increased SNIA Europe's international visibility and educational reach through significant and regular contribution of timely and topical articles to industry publications on behalf of the association.
Honouree: Christine Schmidt (Brocade)
Christine is an active participant in the SNIA Germany Committee and has taken sole responsibility for managing the SNIA Europe PR effort in Germany for the past two years. Her drive, dedication and passion for both the German Committee and SNIA Europe as a whole is remarkable. Christine is extremely professional and highly creative, seeking constantly to improve upon SNIA Europe's core educational and technical material to better serve its mission.

WHITE ARROW AWARD
The White Arrow is presented to an individual who has delivered outstanding technology education on behalf of SNIA Europe by developing white papers and/or high-class technology presentations.
Honouree: Alex McDonald (NetApp)
Alex has supported SNIA Europe in a variety of ways as an active participant of the UK Country Committee for a number of years. He is a continous and welcome presence at key industry events on topics such as Cloud Storage, CDMI, Solid State Storage and NFS, and he is a top-rated speaker on the SNIA BrightTalk channel.
Alex has written key SNIA Europe articles and whitepapers, which have been distributed throughout all of Europe, and he has organised and presented two webinar series on NFS and cloud storage.
In addition to highly valued and visible work on behalf of SNIA, Alex spends considerable time behind the scenes to support other volunteer members with updates on standards and technology developments in his areas of expertise. He is always willing to help and support SNIA Europe in any way when called upon.

GOLD STAR AWARD
The Gold Star is awarded for continuous and on-going effort to represent SNIA Europe at conferences, exhibitions and other public events to educate a wide range of industry professionals.
Honouree (tie): Christian Bandulet (Oracle)
Christian enables SNIA Europe to continuously develop and thrive through the application of personal effort, knowledge and time. Christian often represents SNIA at industry events as an active member of the SNIA Europe Speakers Bureau. Most recently, Christian delivered "The File Systems Evolution" tutorials at the Powering the Cloud and Storage Networking World Conferences, receiving the highest ratings from a large audience of storage professionals.


Honouree (tie): Glyn Bowden (Lucr)
As an active member of the UK Country Committee, Glyn has delivered many SNIA Europe presentations and continues to support and educate the market by writing and contributing to technology education articles.
He has demonstrated a long-term commitment to supporting SNIA Europe’s goal to be recognised as a thought leader in key technology topics for the storage market.
Glyn is a prolific writer and presenter and an integral part of the SNIA UK team. The help, support and ideas he brings are invaluable to the local team's efforts.
