VMTurbo, provider of software-defined control for cloud and virtualized environments, has announced a new service provider customer in KPN and a new vice president of the company’s service provider segment in Andrew Mallaband. KPN is the leading IT service provider in The Netherlands and a market leader in infrastructure and network-related IT solutions. KPN joins dozens of other service providers who have selected VMTurbo Operations Manager to automate and control cloud operations, ensuring improved utilization of their infrastructure and better service levels for their customers.
VMTurbo Operations Manager is designed to drive more profitable services for service providers, and enable service differentiation that protects existing revenue streams and fosters aggressive competition for new business. VMTurbo’s control system focuses on maintaining a state of perpetual health, leveraging its decision analysis engine to specify and automate actions that avoid resource contention and service degradation. Service provider customers benefit by assuring consistent, predictable cloud services for their subscribers while making the most efficient use of their infrastructure assets and reducing the cost of operational support.

“Our business is built on delivering the highest levels of service assurance for our customers and helping them easily and reliably grow their use of cloud infrastructure services,” said Kevin Reeuwijk, technology officer at KPN IT Solutions. “The ability to effectively optimize existing use, as well as plan for future capacity requirements with VMTurbo’s solution, enables us to decrease lead times and increase customer satisfaction.”

Mallaband takes on the additional role of vice president of VMTurbo’s global service provider segment, where he will focus on bringing the company’s innovative cloud control solution to service providers on a global basis—building off the significant set of initial customers in this rapidly growing market segment. In his dual role, he also heads up sales and operations for Northern Europe. An early employee at VMTurbo, Mallaband has spent the last 15 years working to improve the productivity of IT operations. This included leadership roles at Logical Networks (acquired by Datatec), where he ran the Network and Systems Management group; SMARTS (acquired by EMC), who pioneered automated root cause analysis; and Opalis (acquired by Microsoft), the market leader in IT process automation.

“Companies are rapidly adopting cloud services and leading service providers around the world are building out infrastructure to accommodate and capture this growth. In doing so, they must transform their infrastructure to ensure service and drive the cost advantages required to compete. Our work with KPN is a perfect example of this in action,” stated Mallaband.
